The things that the Netanyahu regime is doing are certainly newsworthy. However, there's still a distinction between "news article" and "opinion article about newsworthy event".
Like, if Russia bombs another school in Ukraine, "Russia bombs a school" is news, but "Dear world leaders, please condemn Putin some more" is not news; it's opinion about a newsworthy event.

Maybe I'm just misremembering, but I feel like previous SGs were much milder and afraid of being too controversial
