Live Free or Die is the NH state motto coined by Revolutionary War general and former NH man John Stark.
It was originally used by him as a toast to be raised an the anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington when he couldn't attend. The full quote being "Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils."

Adding more words to our flag to make it unique is such a poor idea I'm going to make draft a better flag and send it to my rep.
