Why I created this community

I created it because I saw that on reddit, it was one of the most supportive communities. I also read that more people became abusive drinkers during the pandemics and as alcohol ads are omnipotent nowadays, it just makes a lot of sense to have this community here too. Hopefully, people can find the support they need here to overcome this problem.

Sorry, my first post isn't too interesting, I just thought we needed this here too. Supportive communities like these make a big difference.

Related community: !stopdrinking@lemmy.world. I would suggest to go to that one if you purely want to focus on your goal of not drinking anymore. This c/ allows you to talk about alcoholism more broadly.

I applaud the initiative. There's stopdrinking communities already on lemmy.world and lemmy.ml that target alcoholism recovery and community support. Instead of fracturing the communities, consider linking to them as a resource. I'll also add this to my subscriptions to help share resources.

Oh yeah, definitely found that I drank more during the pandemic. But I’m starting to find a good balance now

In my country there was also a report about how more women than men became alcoholics during the pandemics. It's affecting so many people nowadays 🤕.
