I'm not saying that I would be aiming at the guy, but I could understand if somebody was going to floor it to escape the possibility of a car jacking or murder attempt.
Street performers treat audience members differently. I bet he keeps the toy gun holstered for randos, however once someone's entertained by the bit and recording, he can make a robbery joke.

I'm not sure the acceptance of gun pointing has changed that much since 2019?
I think costume and location are the bigger factors.

Almost the entire rest of the world would automatically assume it's a fake gun and enjoy the well known and well made costume.
It's pretty much only America where "LETHAL FORCE IS NOW MY ONLY OPTION" is a normal line of thought.
