Is it normal to see random new posts get loaded on to the front page even when sorting is set as "Active" or "Top Day"?

Hello, fresh new Lemmy user and first-time poster here.

Even when I set the front page to sort "Active" or "Top Day", I keep seeing fresh new posts pop up on my front page (see image).

This happens whether I limit the front page to "Local" or widen it to "All". This also happens across different Lemmy instances, not just Lemmy.world.

Is this a normal thing and supposed to happen?

I don't know if I'm being overly sensitive, but tbh this is sort of annoying....

I believe it's a bug in lemmy at the moment and not intended behaviour.

It's websocket fuckery that will be fixed in the 0.18 release.

I see.... Hopefully, it gets fixed soon. I like pretty much everything about Lemmy so far (light, not cluttered, no analytics trackers, etc), but this bug is annoying...

Hah, for me your post was one of the new posts that load to the front page. And yeah, I think it's a bug

Ironically, I had my front page opened in another tab. And when I created this post, it popped up on my front page as well XD

Was just wondering about the exact same thing...

Yea this is a known issue, it has been reported here on the GitHub page of the Lemmy-ui: [Bug]: Filters are being ignored by homepage This probably has something to do with new posts received through the websocket not getting sorted properly.

I recommend using the jerboa app in mean time. It doesn't suffer from this bug.

My understanding is that it is a bug that they're working on. Hopefully will be addressed soon.
