I just saw this episode and never realized that Zefram Cochrane had a history that went back to The Original Series in 1967.
For anyone curious, the character Zefram Cochrane first appears in 'Metamorphosis', the TOS episode from season two episode 9 ... played by Glenn Corbett.
The character was later featured in the 1996 Star Trek film .. Star Trek: First Contact .. and played by James Cromwell.
I only mention this because it was a surprise to me.
A surprise because the first appearance of Cochrane makes him look like a well groomed, uptight, upright military man ..... Then the 1996 version is a drunken idiot.

Just like with the Klingons' change, the Federation doesn't like to talk about this.

Well after brining about peace and prosperity, he sorts himself out.
Actually I think he’s in the Enterprise pilot isn’t he? Giving a speech I think.
