Emulating the psp doesn't require much in terms of hardware. Recall that the psp is running a varient of the same cpu that is in the ps1 (why the psp could play ps1 games, it ran them in a compatibility mode).

Wouldn't be surprised if decoding 1080p60 h265 video eats up more cpu

Same, if this thing was capable of downloading the same games as the Vita (PSP, PS1 Classics, PS Vita), I'd be a lot more interested in it.

I read this headline as "Sony's PlayStation Portable hacked to run emulated PSP games" and was super confused why you would bother emulating the software when the device can run it natively
