I change the player to external player (VLC). But getting this error. Yes I have VLC installed. This is on Android TV Onn 4k box with Android 12. Also happens on my Google Chromecast with Google Tv box on Android 12

Why are you trying to use VLC? It seems like it would make more sense to use the default player

When I use VLC with other apps, there's an option to download subtitles. I don't have that with the built in exoplayer or libvlc.
Update: Downloaded and installed the opensubtitles plugin on my server. And switched back to exoplayer. I can download subtitles now.

Just use the default player or the MPV player.

Can't find MVP player anywhere online
Update: it's MPV player. I found it here and side loaded it but it still doesn't let me download subtitles like VLC does.
