My understanding of mutual aid is the money comes from whoever wants to give it and the recipient never has to repay. It's a way for people with more than they need to give to the less fortunate, especially in marginalized communities. I've given to a few people on Mastodon through a mutual aid account, and that's how it works there. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
