SF Cyclists: “no salvaging this new center bike lane”

The alternate plan of a protected lane wasn’t even presented. All this new center bike lane does is risk riders lives and add a few more metered parking spaces. Those parking spaces were, I suspect, the real motivation.

The SFMTA proposed this configuration because it was the best design alternative available, given the physical and contextual circumstances and constraints along the corridor

Extremely loud incorrect buzzer.

Wow, I thought everyone knew that if you want to add a bike lane, the bike lane needs to be protected.

My first thought looking at the photo: suicide lane.

Are jersey barriers not an option? Ive seen them used for pedestrian paths which divide traffic. It isn't a panacea but wouldn't it be less likely for bikers to fall over the barriers and for cars to enter the lane?
