I've found that if you're still cool with 1080p (I am), most games run fine on old hardware. For now, at least.

My RX480 is still killing it in 2023!
Playing honkai star rail on a 2015 Toshiba Satellite, the thing is begging for the sweet relief of death at this point.
Bought a 570 8gb few months back and enjoying it. To hell with current gen prices
I still used a R9 270X a few weeks ago...

I have the opposite problem. I have a decent card, but I only enjoy old and indie games, so I end up mining with it just because I feel bad about not needing it.
