If you are an older Tory politician this would be a chance you may never get again (as, hopefully, the Tories are out in the cold for a couple of elections at least) - you'd get your name in the history books, you'd get a sweet cash payout and your value would jump for after-dinner speeches and non-executive directorships. You'd have to be deranged if you wanted to captain this sinking ship, so I imagine the shortlist of candidates is already pretty lengthy.
I bet Gove is thinking it must finally be his go.

I mean, going by the amount of money Truss is still allowed to claim, going down with the ship isn't the stupidest idea, at least financially.
