I'm in the same boat. I haven't looked into the causes for the hiatus beyond COVID19 reasons, but it is a shame it's been on pause for so long. It was one of my most anticipated series.
Edit: I want to clarify that this is my lemmy.world account, since the original was posted from Beehaw before the defederating. 100% not trying to steal someone else's credit!
