Of all the forms that matter can take in this universe, it predominantly forms into big orbs of light in an otherwise endless sea of darkness

It's only light to us because we see it. Lots of other things put out radiation we can't look at directly.

It's maybe counterintuitive, but around 8/9 of normal matter is in interstellar and intergalactic space.
