I saw one when I visited Kangaroo Island in Australia (an island on the south side) and for a second I thought it wasn't real. They really are as blue as the picture.

No. That's a professional. I tried google image search to try and source the photographer, but couldn't find them.
I tried to take a photo when I was there, but missed it.
Vacation tip from me to everyone: take your good camera. This was in Jan 2005 and cell phone cameras were nothing like they are now. I decided to leave my bulky camera at home so it wouldn't get lost/destroyed and bought disposable cameras. Now I have a bunch of crap photos from the most amazing trip. :( I've been back since. Australia is one of my favorite places. Which part? The Australia part.

Brings back memories of our caravan/hiking trip in Tasmania. We saw quite a few fairy wrens in the campgrounds. The colour of these birds is surreal, so brilliant that they are almost cartoon-ish. Thanks for sharing.
