If I see a guy wearing a collar I don't immediately assume they're a furry, I think "Oh this is someone who loves drugs and EDM"

That's an interesting point of view. But I guess most people would rather say it's weird, no matter if they know what a furry is or not.

@LordCirais @SnowFoxx There was a guy at my university who used to sit in the electrical and computer engineering student lounge in his collar all the time. He had a tag on it with his fursona name so it made it easy to recognize him from the school's furry Discord. He was the first other fur I met irl.

I don't know what most people thought of it. It tends to be a pretty open minded campus, lots of guys wear nail polish for instance, and I know a few students who have publicly suited on campus, including my BF, but to wear a collar publicly regularly takes more self confidence than I have.
