What is the kbin logo? Just a visually appealing logo or something more?

The name kbin is derived from sbin in Linux (source is a comment by @ernest). Is the logo at all related to sbin? It kind of looks like a forward slash.

I tried searching but turned up nothing. Sorry if this has been answered already.

Look like a directory or folder.

Yep, I imagine it's meant to represent the /sbin directory.

There's a lot of good discussion around the logo, it's origin and how it's evolving, going on in the codeberg.

That's a relief. I'm not enthusiastic about the mascot.

Kbin's existing logo was one of the reasons I started my fediverse journey here instead of at Lemmy. Along with the name and the look.
