Talks at the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) have produced an agreement for the global shipping sector to cut its greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero “by or around 2050”.

So much easier to avoid progress if you just slap on some random future date :)

They’ll have to start using a different year for all these targets soon, 2050 is actually getting kinda close

It will take that long to cycle old ships out. Since container ships need fairly stable levels of power and dont really care about weight, they're perfect for electrification.
