Read this from start to finish (or listen to it, there’s an audio version). DO NOT skim it or skip to the end, you’ll spoil it and it won’t work. Trust me, it’s worth it. It’s a thing of beauty.

An oldie but a goody, so long as you have the right accent.

Hm. Now I’m trying to think of an accent it doesn’t work in. Something like Baltimore or some variation of cockney? Rural Australian? Idk, it seems to work pretty much fine in all that I can think of.

I guess you forgot British English exists 😆 I had to have the joke explained to me as that's the English I was taught and had never heard the pronunciation that way before.

Can you share said explanation with the rest of the dullards such as myself?

Pronounce "lever" to rhyme with "weather" - the punchline will then make sense (I don't want to write it here in case I spoil it for someone 😀)

Oh right, that E) Yeah, I wasn’t even considering British English, went straight to the weird ones in my mind.

Haha, the brain works in the weirdest ways sometimes! (Though British English is a bit weird tbh)
