I'm reminded of Jim Butcher writing a six book series just to prove the point that a stupid idea can become a good book.

"The lost Roman Legion plus Pokemon" is a pretty stupid idea.

"Codex Alera" is a damn good series. I can't get into Dresden Files at all, but I ate this one right up.
