There was indeed, not a million ways to die in the west. There was more like 1 or 5 thousand ways to die in the west.

It really depends on your aggregating dimensions. Is “being shot” a way, or would we want “shot in the head,” shot in the heart,” “shot in the stomach”?

Shot in the foot and die of the infection. Would that be classed as dying from getting shot, or dying from the infection specifically?
