You know it's good when you get to experience it twice.

Broccoli: "I literally taste like shit!"

x4740N@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 3y (7 replies)

What kind of broccoli are you getting

Brocoli tastes amazing

Thassodar@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 3y (4 replies)

I think there's a study where they showed that there's a collection of people who taste broccoli differently.

For me, by itself, it is absolutely terrible. But put it in some melted cheese with some rice and I'm 100% game.

Supertasters, some have an intense aversion to broccoli because of bitterness

notoftenthat@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Do they hang out with the /cilantro tastes like soap/ crew?

Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 3y

The cilantro thing is because of a specific gene variant (iirc), supertasting is a totally different gene, plus an increased number of taste buds (probably, the research is ongoing). So, they aren't related, but someone may have both.

If you also cook them to the point where they loose their green colour you are over cooking them

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

You seem to have it confused with celery. Or actual shit 🤷

Alenalda@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

Cover with olive oil and roast in the oven. So delicious

0x4E4F@lemmy.fmhy.ml · -1 pts · 3y

No matter how much seasoning you put on me.

At a past job, we talked about “rage blackouts” during meetings where someone says something ridiculous and infuriating. When this cartoon was posted on Reddit a while back, I cut out the chili pepper screaming rage, and it became my favorite thing to text people during meetings. This ends story time.

kerodean@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 3y (8 replies)

Aren't chilis also low calories and high in vitamins?

pepperonisalami@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 3y (6 replies)

Yes, but you wouldn't eat that much chili as much as broccoli, would you?

Xanvial@lemmy.one · 7 pts · 3y

In rajasthan you can find something called "mirchi ka salan" which roughly translates to Curry of chillies(https://lemmynsfw.com/pictrs/image/9ebedd36-9ada-42a4-92d7-ff3815592dcc.jpeg)

I definitely eat more peppers than I do brocoli, kale, asaparugus, or pretty much any other leafy greens.

MargotRobbie@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Bell peppers are still chili!

pepperonisalami@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y (1 reply)

They're the chill chillies
