They definitely could not. The MT-LB driver view port is only like 12"x6" and it's angled upwards, so you can't really see anything below the nose, let alone something going under the track.
The real problem we're seeing is the Russian infantry lacks basic esprit de corps. There doesn't seem to be any concern for their comrades, as soon as shit hits the fan it's everyone for themselves.
If this was a combined arms unit with infantry supporting calv units, then the guys should have had buddies to pull him away from the armour.
The other day I saw one of those motorcycle detachments get hit. One of the dismounted units ran to the downed motorcycle unit for what I thought to be aid...... Nope, kicked the guys away from the bike and tried to take off with it.
It's better than modern pick up trucks though. Not sure whether this says that the APC should have seen the guy or whether we should just accept pick up truck drivers running people over because they can't be expected to see people lol

It's probably bad that I laughed, huh? I don't feel guilty about that, but I recognize it's probably not great.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Humor is very important when you experience crazy things.
This book, for example, was written by a political prisoner who had survived a Nazi camp, but is full of jokes: Forest of the Gods by Balys Sruoga
