My solution is to have the same rigid shower routine for the past 20 years.

Changing my shampoo brand adds extra overheads

Literally i have to shower the same way every time because I'm lucky if i remember the very last thing i did

One time I got distracted and skipped the shampoo step. Of course I remembered 30 minutes after I was dried and dressed.

Why is this so hard? 😭

I always seem to forget something in the shower, sometimes even forgetting if I've even had the whole thing done in the first place.

Line em up on a sill, move them one space over as you use them

Wouldn't I have to remember to put them back when I'm finished...??

It might be worth going no shampoo. I've been doing it for years and I love it. I just do an apple cider vinegar rinse once a week or as needed. Way better for your scalp once it adjusts too, rather than putting all the crappy chemicals that most shampoos use on your scalp.

Shampoo and rinse, then put in the conditioner, wash your face, wash your body, rinse it all off. Every. Time.
