I'm not sure if you're joking, so just in case, studies have shown bear bells do nothing as a deterrent. I personally find it a bit crazy that outdoor shops still sell them.

All I am saying is that I wear one at all times and haven't been attacked by a bear and we can be reasonably sure that the victim wasn't wearing a bear bell and she was attacked by a bear. Wouldn't you rather be jingly and safe than sorry?
