Recently I started noticing that a lot of posts will mark as read for a second then go back to unread when viewing just the image or article. It's not all posts though and I haven't determined a pattern yet, but opening the comments seems to mark as read on refresh even though the post looks unread before refreshing.
I'm on version 122 of Sync on Android.

The API updated with Lemmy 0.19.4. The old way has been marked for deletion and they've now followed through on that, but a few apps (presumably including Sync) haven't updated to the new way yet

I actually just noticed the same thing. Click into post and going back out, post shows as unread. I found refreshing while in the post and then going back, it does show as read.
Also v122

If I read comments then tap the Android back button, the post looks read and it stays that way through refreshes, so I don't seem to be affected. I'm on Lemmy.world, though.
Sync is full of dumb bugs and the markdown uses reddit style for everything still. A fucking year later. I wish apps like Thunder would catch up in the quality-of-life features so I can abandon Sync entirely. It's a cobbled together port of Sync for Reddit and was never given the focus it needs, especially for the price he asks for it.
Where are you getting that number? If I press the bug icon when editing a comment, this is what I see. (Some stuff omitted)

Settings > everything else
This displays the same version number you wrote, but with a (122) at the end of the string. I'm unsure how it can be simultaneously version 24 and version 122 at the same time, but that is what the app tells me.
*Edit: realized I can paste a shortcut
Settings shortcut: Everything else > Sync for Lemmy

Thanks. 24.03.26 is just the date of the release

Yup -- and the developer is known for going silent for weeks/months at a time.
Anyone who spent money on this app is a sucker.
Edit: lol downvoted but at the moment he was last active a month ago. This is not the first time basic functionality has broken and he's ghosted the app.
He's charging over $100 for premium, and won't even stay on top of changes that break basic functionality.
