Designing “Historically Accurate” Costumes for Fantasy: Game of Thrones Case Study

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7aBLEio6J8

This video analyzing the accuracy (?) of the GoT costumes has been out for a while, but I keep going back to it. The creative decisions that keep the costumes consistent and avoid breaking the “willing suspension of disbelief” of the viewer are invisible to me until she points them out - and I am fascinated by it. (And I’ve never seen Game of Thrones nor read the book)

this reminded me of this fun article I read a few years ago about how the costume designers used IKEA furs in their crafting of the outfits: https://www.core77.com/posts/68390/After-Game-of-Thrones-Capes-Revaled-to-Be-Ikea-Rugs-Ikea-Releases-How-To-Instructions

I'm a huge fan of Bernadette Banner and highly recommend every video she makes. I loved this one as well.
