Large winged creatures are highly visible, and the alliance of protagonists has not established air dominance

Also there's a giant retinal sensor that has combusted on a tall structure near the molten rock that sees pretty much everything 24/7.

Game? Why would you think they're playing a game? There is absolutely nothing hinting at that.

There's no need to make someone feel dumber for a simple mixup.

Somehow I read it as a kind of sport, like it was a scoreboard with digits on.

I see now the popcorn is trying to hint at movie.

The characters design of these blue guys reminds me of the Australian space related stop motion series, Plasmo.
