Subscribe to other communities

I tried to search for "!linux_gaming@lemmy.ml" and it doesn't find anything. Instances says this site is linked to lemmy.ml. Am I doing something wrong to subscribe to a community outside of this site? I was able to subscribe to a community on a different site.
