They show how many new users signed up but leave out how many users cancelled, downgraded, or closed their accounts.

My problem is that some of the stuff I would download was for my kid. Since rarbg shut down, no new episodes of one of her favorite shows have become available. I'm forced to subscribe to a package with that channel so she can watch. Just a month or so ago, my wife and I were discussing scaling back our subscriptions even further, then rarbg shut down, and it seems like I'm going the other way now.

If you're interested i can give you magnet link of a rarbg website dump. It's an SQLite database, which can be browsed with a tool like https://github.com/sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser.

I know, but getting old content can still be useful.

Soap2day just went kaput this morning too.

BatteryBunny@kbin.social · 2 pts · 3y

Not all instances of soap2day are down. So far https://soap2day.id/ still works fine.

Most casual users of services aren't tech-savvy enough to know how to pirate. It's easy to forget that pirates are the minority when the seven seas are so popular.

It is easy to forget that practically no one knows what plex, emby, or jellyfin are.

So teach them, what's the issue

The children aren't paying for streaming services. asking your parents to pay for something will always be easier than pirating.
