So far I've avoided getting a smartphone. I guess the main reasons are:
cost (my dumbphone was relatively cheap and costs me $9/mo for unlimited calls and texts, no data)
not wanting to walk around like a zombie staring at a phone like most people
not wanting a bunch of privacy-invading apps sending notifications at me tracking me
and a few other minor reasons. Eventually I'm sure I'll have to get one, since more and more daily activities practically require you to have one.
