I have no idea how, but the resolution on my thumbnails increased dramatically shortly after posting this. They've been unreadable for months and now I can read text before clicking
By default the app loads low resolution thumbnails when using mobile data, and higher resolution on wifi. To always load high resolution thumbnails, disable data saver options on "Settings-Data and storage"

Do you mean larger thumbnails or are they appearing fuzzy?
I think there's a few different layouts you can choose in boost.
But if the icon is fuzzy that may be governed by the lemmy instance you're using.
