The movie wasn't terrible, just a regular stoner movie, but the soundstrack was indeed leagues better than the movie. It's hard to match perfection though.
The Crow. Movie was just so cheesy, but the soundtrack is just some of the best alternative songs from the time. A lot of original songs made for the soundtrack too.
Kikujiro, 100%. Beautiful soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi so I blindly watched the movie with a friend. It made no sense (maybe cultural differences? lmao) and left us wondering "WTF" after the random child molestation scene which I think happened near the beginning. Maybe the movie is okay and we brought this upon ourselves by watching it with no context, but man, it was nothing like the music.
Skate Kitchen. I watched it because I like the Clairo song that’s on the soundtrack and it’s about skateboarding, but this has to be the most boring coming of age movie I’ve ever seen. Not helped by Jaden Smith’s terrible acting
But it wasn't a bad movie. Maybe not the absolute peak of cinema, but it's no where near "terrible". They did a lot of things very right. Rorschach, for example, was absolutely perfect. Exactly like the graphic novel.
I think it depends on the definition of terrible. The first movie that sprang to mind when I read the question was Maximum Overdrive. A movie that I think most people consider pretty terrible although it's always been a guilty pleasure of mine and I think the AC/DC soundtrack plays a huge part of that.

Best answer. Got motherfuckin Daft Punk for that movie. Have never rewatched the movie but listened to the soundtrack hundreds of times

Reconfigured version goes off, but the normal version is still so much better than the movie. I didnt hate the movie but I too haven't rewatched it.

Great answer. I still like the beginning where he parachutes.

I found Requiem for a dream boring and depressing but the main soundtrack is pretty good.

Tenacious D's Pick of Destiny
I knew the soundtrack by heart before I ever stepped into the cinema so it was never gonna live up to the hype but goddamn.

If tenacious D is perfection then I've been aspiring to all the wrong things. Dang

Judgement Night. A decidedly milquetoast movie but holy shit that soundtrack was nothing but bangers.

Formative years memory activated. I must have had that soundtrack on repeat for months when it was released. Movie was awful.

St Elmo’s Fire. I only watched it because of the catchy “full eighties” title track and discovered that said title track totally outclassed the movie.

Drive.
Ryan Gosling plays the main character but is completely emotionless. It's actually so bad it's funny. The soundtrack is great though

Nightcall by Kavinsky is just so good

Godzilla (1998) soundtrack, with that Come With Me song by Puff Daddy, along with many other bangers.

Black Adam was kinda mid, but boy did it have such awesome music. I encourage you to listen to "Teth-Adam" and "The Justice Society Theme".

My mom had this soundtrack that she listened to all the time. Definitely listened to it more than I saw the movie
