That is a cool idea 😄 . Are you getting enough airflow?

Oh darn I forgot a picture of the sides. The two rop racks have a fan on each side, so 4 fans. I cut holes in the sides for them to fit.

Well executed idea!

Cool idea for repurposing an old file cabinet.

Are cables running behind the drawers an issue? I would imagine running them through and keeping them from catching on the rails would be a concern.

There is a back rail that holds them.

I was gonna say "put the server in the rack for better airflow" but then I scrolled down.

What's holding the drives in place?

crazyminner@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 3y

Good ol Velcro. Some underneath, some in between each drive so they stick together and some on top.

Was the cheapest solution I could think of and it offers some build in vibration dampening.

Looks cool and stealthy. Whats kinda keeping me from homelab rn is both the price and the space/looks. You seemingly solved all of that with some creativity.

Yeah old cabinets are super cheap if you buy them second hand, a lot of businesses are just trying to get rid of them. I recommend the extra deep ones.
