Try getting anywhere in Clyde North between 5:00pm and 7:00pm and cry.
I’m pretty sure that all suburbs that are poorly served by Rail, Buses and Cycling Tracks are also underserved for vehicular traffic too.
Those suburbs that do have Cycling and Walking infrastructure don’t have contiguous tracks, forcing users to walk/ride though paddocks, on unstable road shoulders and even share road space with angry, entitled drivers.

Yes, my area has bike lanes and tracks but back when I tried to ride I didn’t find them safe or easy to use

Infrastructure really needs to be put in or at least planned for first rather than just avoiding the problem and warehousing people.
This is going to cause food deserts, and possibly concentrated poverty if there aren’t enough local jobs and people can’t get to jobs in other areas. Having a car is also really expensive

Love how we skyrailed most of the dandenong corridor with 0 thought to futureproofing the whole thing. They just closed a main road in pakenham for a month only to reopen it in worse state than they found it, no additional lanes that it desperately needs.
