Hello! My sister sent me some images on the .RW2 format, does anyone know any programs I should use to easily open/covert them to jpeg? Using Linux Mint if that helps.
I know this could easily be googled, but someday I'd like to imagine people tacking site:lemmy.world to their google searches instead of site:reddit.com

Darktable can be used for that as .RW2 files are "raw" pictures.
Also Darktable is a damn good image editing software for raw files.

Darktable is fantastic, but the learning curve is steep for great results. It took us months to get comfortable with it after using Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop/ACR. It's different. Our first efforts looked like crap.
For someone processing just a few files I think RawTherapee is probably easier and likely to give better results with limited effort.

Something like
convert filename.rw2 filename.jpegjodanlime@midwest.social · 5 pts · 2y
My Panasonic camera makes RW2 files for raw photos, I imagine most raw photo editors will open and convert them fine. I use darktable.

I'd suggest RawTherapee. It's in the spirit of Darktable but it's easier to use. More into on their website.
