Anyone who pays for YouTube Premium needs to rethink their financial decisions.

I think some of the revenue is shared with the creators you watch, similar to what happens when a video is monetized with advertisements. I'm not against paying for a venue to see a concert or film showing, I don't have a problem paying for online venues. My problem is with the subconscious psychology tools of Edward Bernaysian techniques used in marketing/advertising. I also wish people were more critical of the product placement so many YouTube creators push.

If they actually do share revenue, that definitely helps

Alphabet/Google claims to do so: "If you're a YouTube Premium member, you won't see ads, so we share your monthly membership fee with creators." https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7060016?hl=en

We watch a ton more YouTube than Netflix, Disney Plus or Apple TV in our house
