In Arkham City there waa a really great dynamic where Batman would hide up in the building stonework stalking a gang of thugs thinning it out by ambushing the ones that strayed.
Sadly that was just wandering gangs on the street. Batman was expected to brawl with thirty at a time, which was a bit of a slog.

I hope for a more tactical Batman game someday.
