To me it looked like the common man (TV expert) overestimated Russia's capabilities and the professional military people probably had a ballpark idea what to expect and prepared for slightly worse. Considering the relative success Ukraine has had; I would say they were about right. But I am just an internet bozo. And I didn't watch the video.
