What's the leaf icon behind some users' names on Mbin and why can't you see them on lemmy?

Means the account is 30 days old or less. They don't show on Lemmy b/c it's a UI thing in Mbin. Some Lemmy clients add similar badges to new accounts, though, and they're basically the same thing.

I agree. I see babyfaces 👶 with the day count on voyager. I'd like leaves much better.

My general philosophy now is pretty much "If it doesn't federate, I don't care about it." There's been too many cool features that either die with a small community, or are aggressively hoarded by a group keeping them out of the hands of others. Openness and interoperability. That's the only way these networks grow and keep from becoming another Facebook/Reddit/X...
