This is Pilotwings 64 for the N64. It uses an unusual little EEPROM for savegames. I think I almost liked it better when they used battery backed SRAM.

On one hand. SRAM will lose memory when the battery eventually dies. On the other hand, the epprom has limited write cycles.
Now if only they used FeRAM.

@root42@chaos.social As far as I’m aware, all N64 carts use I2C EEPROMs for saves. But funnily enough, the Memory Paks are battery-backed SRAM. I’m guessing that’s so they could share BOM with Game Boy carts.
