Can anyone recommend great or entertaining wintertime movies that aren't in the romance or survival-based genres? I'm not terribly picky, but I didn't think Dead of Winter was bad. Or maybe movies that take place in a snowstorm or cozy cabin during winter. I don't have a preference on whether it's holiday-themed or not. I've already considered The Thing but I've seen that plenty of times.

The Hateful 8?
Its... got survival as an ever present element, but its much more a character drama... sorta like a whodunit, or a ... who did what and who's gonna do what next.
It is almost entirely set in a snowed in cabin.
EDIT: I think Home Alone also meets your criteria.
