I could see Everett taking the opposite view as well "HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE THE FAIR MAN DOING HIS JOB JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A GAMBLING FIEND AND BET ON THE WRONG TEAM?!"

although he has been gambling in the past

That's an umpire, not a ref.

I don't know why they have a different name.

What's the difference?

Wikipedia says the position of umpire is "analogous to that of a referee in many other sports."

Masks and padding?

Albbi@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

That's just the home plate umpire. The base umpires don't have padding and masks.

Everette would’ve loved online sports betting

Hall of Famer Whitey Ford on the field… pleading with the crowd for some kind of sanity. Uh-oh. And a barrage of pretzels now knocking Whitey unconscious. This is a black day for baseball.

I bet when E-Tru goes to sporting events, they have an entrance song ready for him.

"...AND IT'S EVERETT TRUE WITH A BASEBALL BAT!!!" (cue "Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture")
