I don’t understand why insurance and health plans are denying paying for Wegovy. They rather shell out far more money for treatment of complications and co-mprbidities related to obesity than pay for the drug now? It’s being penny-wise and pound-foolish.

It's still an off label use, from what I was told. That's the excuse anyway, but it's a common excuse for insurance refusals

Wegovy is indicated for the treatment of obesity. It’s Ozempic that’s being used off-label for weight loss.
