Our local mall has an area like this with a little coin-op train and nothing else. I put my 2 year old's, who are always happy to play with a train anytime, anywhere, in the train to happily scream "choochoo!!" And cackle at each other, so they can liven up the otherwise sad area a bit.

I've been to a mall similar like this with a old lowly worm coin op ride. They feel so surreal and sad
