If I’m not swearing on The Hitchhiker’s Guide I’m not bound by man or god.

You can use anything you want. I don't think the courts can literally refuse it as long as it's reasonable.

Although the only time I ever had to do it they didn't have a Bible they just had a person swear me in. But that was just as a witness so maybe that was the reason.

If it isn't the original Gutenberg bible I refuse to swear.

In the original Hebrew or it doesn't count

Is the guide reasonable?

Depending on what country, probably. Someone has sworn an oath on a river before.

I swear on the Nile that I'm not in denial!

John Quincy Adams used a book of law to swear in as president.

The Constitution says "swear or affirm", not just "swear". That clause accommodates Quakers and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Am I doing it wrong if I wipe with the same hand that I use for legal things

MajorSauce@sh.itjust.works · 21 pts · 1y

As long as you wash it after touching the book.
