Does anyone have any good discussion based Lemmy communities to recmmend?

I’m just looking for a place where I can post random things and generally have conversations if that makes sense?

I mean sure there are niche communities for specific things but I guess I’m just asking because I wonder if there is a cool spot that I’m unaware of.

!chat@beehaw.org?

Most users reading this suggestion won't even be able to post in that walled off instance...

Maybe not your generic "discussions", but at c/askscience we can discuss interesting (and more or less absurd) scientific questions and hypotheticals, if you're into that kind of thing ;)

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !askscience@lemmy.world

The most relevant,

  • !cafe@monyet.cc - casual chat community
  • !casualconversation@lemmy.world - another casual chat community
  • !ukcasual@lemmy.world

There's also other "ask" communities:

  • !asklemmy@lemmy.world - same as this one
  • !askmeanything@lemmy.ca - AMA's with interesting people
  • !asktheworld@lemm.ee - conversations about cross-cultural differences
  • !askuk@feddit.uk

Might also be worth checking:

  • !nostupidquestions@lemmy.world
  • !showerthoughts@lemmy.world

As they are also discussion based.

I just bookmarked this other post that seems like it would answer your question.

This is more of a support question, related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for a list of communities that offer support. Removing under rule #3.

How is this a support question? It's asking lemmy users what are good communities for conversation

I don't think it is, to be honest

Is asking what everyone's favorite communities are a 'support' question as well?..

Kinda defeats the point of an 'ask lemmy' community when the questions are ovepoliced like this. Not a very welcoming environment for asking genuine questions.
