you should just close the window and never open it again

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 3y

Completely agree, but news articles keep embedding videos that will not play in place. Also mildly infuriating.

Friends don’t let friends use “Ten”

This rebrand is so dumb in so many ways.

Rando@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

What's funny is how excited Elo was about it, like it was this huge contribution to the site.

Anticorp@lemmy.ml · 29 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Oh gosh... What a UI mistake that is. 30 years of standard interfaces down the drain!

seds@lemmy.eco.br · 1 pts · 3y

Such a waste :(

glimse@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 3y (6 replies)

The rebrand is dumb but anyone who believes you've unlearned years of muscle memory in 48 hours because an X got added to the page is also dumb

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · -15 pts · 3y (5 replies)

Assuming that PCs are the only computers that exist. Cool.

glimse@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 3y (4 replies)

What does the operating system have to do with it? Wtf lol

It's not an ad, it's a browser window. You know where the close button is unless you started using [whatever OS won't offend you] yesterday

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Many linux desktops and all Macs have the close button on the top left side of the window. So yeah, muscle memory on those system is to move to the top left corner.

glimse@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3y

My bad, I forgot that macOS puts scaled up window control buttons inside the webpage

over_clox@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Many advertisements on mobile devices have the X in any random corner, so what's ya point. I see an X, naturally my first thought is this must be the close button.

Pyroglyph@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

If that's a problem for you, do you also fall for the fake virus alert scams? It's very easy to tell them apart. Plus, muscle memory doesn't apply here since you can just swing your mouse to the top left of the screen and click. No vision is even needed. That's what muscle memory is.

Resol@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 3y (2 replies)

It's simple: just don't visit the website, and you won't have that problem anymore.

I need downvotes now.

NuclearNoggin@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 3y (1 reply)

hoping this is a joke

Zorque@kbin.social · 15 pts · 3y

Yes, but also reality.

Secret300@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I think you're the only one still on twitter

LazaroFilm@lemmy.film · 4 pts · 3y (7 replies)

What’s that?

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 3y (6 replies)

The new twitter or whatever.

LazaroFilm@lemmy.film · 11 pts · 3y (5 replies)

Why are you on it? At least go to Mastodon. Don’t go on TwitterX

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3y

I don't use it, but news articles keep embedding videos that don't play in place. You click to play and it loads the whole dumb site.

Rivalarrival@lemmy.today · 8 pts · 3y (3 replies)

I believe it's "Xcreter" now.

aeternum@kbin.social · 3 pts · 3y

Xcrement Plus

Jtee@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Correction, it's "Ten".

vintprox@geddit.social · 3 pts · 3y

Decades of browser engineering have failed us... This day came.

Chocrates@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

No, every damn time.

Mixel@szmer.info · 1 pts · 2y

Just use Mastodon 😉

user75736572@sh.itjust.works · -27 pts · 3y (13 replies)

Am I the only one who thinks the rebranding is kinda cool?

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 42 pts · 3y (10 replies)

You aren't the only one. Elon seems to think so too.

Rivalarrival@lemmy.today · 22 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Your comment rests on the assumption that this user is not Elon.

user75736572@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 3y

Who knows

user75736572@sh.itjust.works · -8 pts · 3y (7 replies)

lol at least it’s a rare domain

Holyginz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y (4 replies)

....so?

user75736572@sh.itjust.works · -1 pts · 3y (3 replies)

It’s kinda cool that he owns that

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Billionaires get to own just about anything they want.

user75736572@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Yeah but only one can have x.com

Tenthrow@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

I guess Thunderdome if two of them ever want it.

Holyginz@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 3y

Yes

VediusPollio@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

I don't have much of an opinion on Twitter or what Elon does with Twitter, but I'm not a fan of this rebranding.

That said, I'm going to upvote you since the rest of Lemmy is apparently all about quashing dissenting opinions.
