She lost her son to suicide a few years ago.

It started way before that. The pope thing happened because she had been abused by the church in her early life.
At the age of 15, her shoplifting and truancy led to her being placed for eighteen months in a Magdalene asylum called the Grianán Training Centre run by the Order of Our Lady of Charity

This is really sad.
They have not yet announced a cause of death, but she did go through several mental health crises and had attempted suicide more than once.
Like Robin Williams and Anthony Bourdain, this is one of the rough ones.
