Tomorrow being Christmas Eve, I completely agree with her

Exactly. I would reply "Pay me 3x my usual rate and we have a deal".

Here in Scotland christmas eve is a normal work day. It's christmas and boxing day we take off.

Nope. 2 days extra pay isn't enough to miss my kids' reactions when the Christmas tree lights are turned on.

You don't turn the lights on until Christmas Eve?? When do you put your tree up?

superkret@feddit.org · 5 pts · 1y

I bring it inside on the 24th.
And back outside after the 26th.
It's a living tree in a large pot, and putting it inside for too long and then back out in the cold could kill it.

Its a regional difference i believe

Nope. No deal. I need my downtime to recover.

It's mandatory 2x here where I live, but even then it doesn't exist outside of places with shift work usually

As a medic and fireman, you spend a lot of your holidays celebrating them with your closest coworkers. I don't see what the big deal is.......

Thank you for giving up your family time to keep your community safe and healthy.

Are you being facetious? It's clearly not the same having to work because you're a medic vs being a programmer or whatever else for a random private company.
